Duration: Three weeks, April 9th-23rd
Time: 6:15-8:15 PM
Ages: 14 and up
Capacity: 12 students
Instructor: Aaron Kent (owner of DIY Printing) and Mike O'Neal (LMO Pottery)
Come learn how to apply silk screen prints of your own design to your ceramic work. This process will allow you to create your own underglaze transfers that can be applied onto your greenware.
These transfers work just like a temporary tattoo does: wet it, stick it on your pot, and ta-da! (except this one stays on your piece forever). We'll walk you through drawing/creating your transfer, making a screen for it, and then using that screen to apply your design to paper.
The best silk screener in Cincinnati is teaching the first two weeks of class at his screen printing shop (The Essex Studios in Walnut Hills) where you will design your transfer first week, apply your prints to paper the second week. Then the third week, you return to Core Clay and Mike O'Neal will show you how he applies his screen prints to his ceramic work. Bring a few pieces of leather hard greenware to apply your silk screens too, and see what happens!
