New Glazes

Advanced Wheel Classes

We are teaching classes on Wednesday nights, starting at 6:00. Classes start the second week of the month and last for four weeks, and focus on a different topic each month. Topics for 2010 are

  • July-- Forming Attachments--handles, feet, spouts, Alysha will be teaching you to form attachments with your clay

  • August-- Bowls

  • September-- Working with Slip

  • October-- Out of round

  • November--Feet of Clay--we will be working on foot rings and variations this month

  • December--Happy Holidays--No class in December!

  • January-- Happy Holidays--No class in January!

  • February-- Warts and all--we'll be adding texture to things each week using carving, additions, and piercings

  • March--TBA

  • April-- TBA

  • May-- TBA

  • June-- TBA

Wednesday night classes are included in the studio shelf rental. We are happy to add new topics to the list and to address smaller issues during each class, but there is absolutely no substitute for practice. If you come to class once a week and expect that you can become a master potter with no further work, you will be disappointed. We would really like to see participants in class practice that topic at least once during the following week.

So what if you missed class one month and wish you could get that class some time without having to wait a whole year for it to happen again? We will be doing instant replays on the following month on Tuesday mornings at 11am. Let's spell it out: if we teach how to make clay widgets on Wednesday nights in January, we will be teaching it again on Tuesday mornings in February.
